Wellness boosting shots!
I typically buy these premade at a variety of stores, H‑E‑B, Sprouts or Trader Joe’s. They easily range from $2-$5 a shot
which can really add up when you drink them daily or several times a week. This recipe made 12 and I spent $8 total for all the ingredients.
This is my copycat version and I have to say I am very impressed with how much they taste just like the other ones!
This was my first time making them and while it did take me some time with having to peel the turmeric and ginger and strain the juice (since I used a blender instead of an actual juicer-I don’t have one) But if you are looking to save a few extra dollars and have the time, I highly suggest making your own.
Why it’s good
•turmeric - great for inflammation, can lower risk of heart disease, can add antioxidant properties
•ginger - aids in digestion, stomach pains, can ease anxiety symptoms, increases serotonin and dopamine levels
•lemons - high in vitamin C and fiber, prevent kidney stones, aids in digestion
•coconut water - great source of hydration, aids in heart health, great for after workout drink
•cayenne - can ease pain and clear congestion
•black pepper - activates curcumin, the main ingredient in turmeric
These are just some of the many benefits of the ingredients. This drink tastes great and has a nice kick to it. Drink anytime of day and enjoy peace of mind knowing you are putting healthy whole foods in your body for fuel

1-3 pieces of ginger (the more you use the spicy it will be - I like mine spicy so I used 3, each piece was about the size of the palm of my hand)
5-6 pieces of turmeric (turmeric pieces are much smaller than ginger, you want to shoot for pieces about the size of a finger)
3-5 medium to large sized lemons (this will depend on how acidic you want the shot to be)
one 16oz can of coconut water (any brand will do)
1/2 tsp of black pepper (do not skip, this is what activates the turmeric)
1/2 tsp of cayenne (optional, as I mentioned before, I like mine spicy!)
Very fine mesh nut milk cloth (90-100 grade) I got mine on Amazon
Glass or metal bowl (if using plastic the turmeric will stain it)
Blender or juicer
1-2oz vials for shots or ice cube trays to freeze juice in
First prep your counter top and hands for the turmeric. Turmeric will literally color anything it touches yellow!! WEAR GLOVES AND COVER YOUR COUNTER TOPS!
Peel the turmeric and ginger. You can use a spoon or a knife, I used a knife because it is fast, a spoon is less dangerous. If you have a juicer put the ginger and turmeric in the juicer and juice. If you don't the next step is for you.
Put ginger and turmeric in blender and squeeze the juice out of all 5 lemons. Blend until smooth.
If you have a juicer you can skip this step too. Next get your bowl and place your nut milk cloth on top of it and gently pour the contents from your blender into it. Then gather the cloth together and squeeze out all of the juice until nothing else drops from the cloth.
Next for both juicer and blender method, pour the juice into a 32oz cup (glass or it will stain) Next add the coconut water, black pepper and cayenne (optional).
And there you have it! Your wellness shots are ready to go. Store them small vials with lids if you have them, ice cube trays and freeze them to drink (and they last longer) at your leisure. Or if keep in a single glass bottle and sip off of it throughout the week - this will save space in the fridge too.
These will keep for about 7 days, possibly more but I wouldn't want to push it. If you only like to drink a few times a week I highly recommend freezing them and just popping one in some water when you want it so you don't waste all your time and hard work. Enjoy!
